Chris Carpenter is the author of the very popular Google Cash book. Google Cash is a beginner's self help guide on how to make money promoting from affiliate programs with Google and Yahoo.
This ebook pre-dates the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques that once made fortunes with Google Adsense before it got regulated.
This book is still excellent reading for anyone that wants to enter the world of affiliate marketing. The book is 87 pages and for $49 you can download it instantly. The author breaks the whole marketing process down into 4 steps:
1. How to find the right affiliate programs
2. How to research keywords
3. What to write in your advertising copy
4. How to track your campaigns
I tried affiliate marketing a couple of years ago. I found some excellent ebooks that I could promote at Clickbank. For example, there was a book about shoulder pain. I used keywords like shoulder pain, sore shoulder, shoulder exercise etc…and drove Google adwords to my ad copy and affiliate url. Did I make any money? Sure I did. Did I spend more on advertising than the sales I made. You bet!
This wasn't the case all the time and I still have a few profitable campaigns running. The point is that you have to have a lot of these mini-campaigns running all the time and it's very time-consuming. Also, any changes that Google might make unexpectedly could put you out of business very quickly.
